About this course

What the Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Analysis Services (SSAS) course covers

Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Analysis Services (SSAS) runs online from start to finish, so you decide when you study and how much you cover at a time. There are 9 modules to work through, and most people give it 8 hours in total. The 12 months of access matter more than they sound: refresher reading before an inspection or an appraisal is free.

What it covers: Introduction to Business Intelligence and Data Modeling, Multidimensional Databases, Cubes and Dimensions and Measures and Measure Groups. 5 more modules follow those, all named on the Modules tab.

It is open to anyone, and written for people who have to use the subject rather than be examined on it. We list 18 Microsoft & Data courses, of which 12 sit at Professional development. Its study time is about mid-range for the subject. Take it as professional training, not a graded award - what it shows is that you have done the learning.

Worth knowing before you buy: The provider has not stated what the certificate looks like for this one, so ask us first if the certificate is the reason you are buying.

Full course details from the training provider

Analysis Services is a combination of two analytical engines (VertiPaq for multidimensional cubes and Data Mining and xVelocity for Tabular Data Models) used in decision support and business analytics. It provides enterprise-grade semantic data model capabilities for business intelligence (BI), data analysis, and reporting applications such as Power BI, Excel, Reporting Services, and other data visualization tools.

This course provides a full introduction to the use of both of these engines in an enterprise environment.  You will learn about creating cubes and their constituent components, the use of MDX to query the cubes, as well as how to customize a cube with KPI, actions, perspectives, and language translations.  You will also learn about the differences and similarities between cubes and tabular data models, how to create a tabular data model, and the use of DAX to query the model.

The third major component of the course is a form of Machine Learning called Data Mining.  Data Mining is the analysis of large data set to reveal hidden patterns and trends. This course will teach you how to create a Data Mining solution, how to compare and validate different data mining options (models) for a given data set, and how to use your chosen model in a consumer-friendly client.
