About this course

What the Safeguarding Children course covers

Safeguarding Children is taught entirely online, so there is nothing to attend and no start date to wait for. Budget roughly 75 minutes for the 5 modules, less if the subject is already familiar. There is no clock on it, so a week off in the middle changes nothing.

The course works through Introduction to Safeguarding Children, How to Recognise the Signs of Abuse and Safeguarding Legislation. Another 2 modules follow, and the Modules tab lists every one of them.

The provider grades it intermediate, so it moves through the fundamentals quickly rather than teaching them. We list 98 Compliance & Risk courses, of which 46 sit at Intermediate. Its study time is about mid-range for the subject. It carries CPD accreditation, which is what makes the hours usable on a CPD log, and the certificate downloads straight away.

What this course is not: It is not an awareness course: if the subject is completely new to you, something introductory will be better value.

Is this the right course for you?

Best fit

Safeguarding Children is a sensible shortlist choice when you want a structured route through the published syllabus rather than a general overview of the whole subject. Its 5-module plan starts with Introduction to Safeguarding Children and How to Recognise the Signs of Abuse, which gives you a clear indication of the assumed starting point. That shape is likely to be most useful for managers, supervisors and the person who ends up owning compliance whose training need matches those topics. It is a weaker fit if you only need one isolated skill, or if an employer has specified a different standard, awarding body or practical assessment. Before buying, compare that requirement with the final modules on How to Recognise the Signs of Abuse and Safeguarding Legislation as well as the course title.

How to use the syllabus

Treat the module list as a study plan, not just a contents page. Begin with Introduction to Safeguarding Children and How to Recognise the Signs of Abuse and note any terms or processes you need to revisit. Around the middle, How to Recognise the Signs of Abuse acts as a useful checkpoint: if you can explain that material without looking back, move on; if not, repeat the preceding section before adding more. The later work on How to Recognise the Signs of Abuse and Safeguarding Legislation is where you can test whether the earlier ideas connect. After each block, write a short example from your own work or a realistic scenario. That simple retrieval step makes self-paced learning more useful than clicking straight through to completion.

Check before enrolling

The listed study time is 75 minutes; reserve more time if the subject is new to you or you plan to make detailed notes. No fixed access period is stated in the validated course facts; ask us before enrolling if a deadline matters to your plans. A downloadable or printable completion certificate is described, but it records course completion rather than replacing a regulated qualification. The course carries a CPD accreditation reference; still check that your employer or professional body accepts this exact course for the purpose you have in mind.

Course Description

Our Safeguarding courses have been created because, first and foremost, each and every one of us has basic human rights. Chief among these is the right to be healthy, happy, and treated well, regardless of race, age, gender, or location. When these rights are abused in some way it’s wrong, and it is therefore vital that guidelines, policies, and procedures are followed to enable everyone, without exception to live a life in which these basic values and rights are maintained and upheld.

Everyone, regardless of their age, gender, religion, ethnicity, or background has the right to a healthy, happy life. Safeguarding is about minimizing and managing the risks to vulnerable individuals.

Although most children are brought up in loving, nurturing environments and grow up to lead happy lives, the subject has to be discussed in order to better protect those children that need it most.

During this course you will hear many facts, figures and details surrounding the risk to children, the types of abuse suffered, how to recognize the signs of abuse, and key safeguarding legislations put in place to minimize the abuse of children.

Once you are able to recognize the signs of possible abuse and know the steps you should take if you suspect it you will be better able to protect the children in your care.
